Why AutoB.I.opic?

Basically AutoB.I.opic is a word I made up thats derived from 2 words which are Autobiography & Biopic.Both words have more or less the same meanings in different formats,when you put them together they spell AutoB.I.opic with my name in between.Its all about me B.I,my life story,my interpretation & how I see life.

Track review.

1. Blood Diamonds

Firstly this is the intro to AutoB.I.opic,it starts off with a countdown as if a spaceship is about to launch.The idea behind this song is how I describe hiphop as this woman I fell in love with a long time ago.She's beautiful elegant she's my diamond yet she's hurt me over & over.She's left scars & stains of blood on me but the love I have for her keeps bringing me back to her hence the title Blood Diamond.

2. Sirens ft Lazy left

In the beginning you hear sirens which symbolise trouble, an emergency which could either be cops or paramedics.It portrays my feelings towards the justice system in South Africa.We as citizens of this country expect protection and a fair justice system from our police force yet they've dissappointed us over & over with their corrupt ways and not fulfilling their duties. I feature producer/rapper Lazy left on this one.You hear lyrics like: F**k the cops I say f**k the cops/with their white vans kutlwa maatla bust a shot & if I get a couple dealers jus 2 flood the block/will they take their jobs seriously get off our spot.

3. Laces

The 1st single off the Ep and literally the 1st song I recorded for this project.The concept behind Laces,we always tell our kids to pull up their socks yet we dont remind them to also tie their laces.It reminds the listener to focus on their own laces and they might get further in life.We just recently shot the video for this song and is scheduled to drop anytime between January and February 2015.

4.Time piece ft Stringz

One of the songs I enjoyed recording the most featuring a good friend of mine rapper/producer Stringz.Imagine trying to achieve your dreams yet things are slow,no matter what you do it just seems impossible & you're running out of time as you're not getting any younger.It's as if your time is in pieces,you need to gather up all those pieces and buy just enough time to make it before you age.

5.Dreaming ft Rylee & Leo

Basically I'm trying to interpret a dream I had about my relationship falling apart.Dreaming she left me,reminiscing of the times I had it all but now I've given in to the break up and in denial.Tossing and turning thinking about all the losses I'm burning.

6.Famous

I'm not really in it for the fame I just want to live and have financial security.I'm trying to get Madibas right now I ain't trying to be famous.Its all a facade as the pressures of the industry force you to fake it till you make it.

7.A damn shame ft O_So_T

You are an artist you have talent although at the same time you're having a hard time getting into the industry.The little 15 minutes of fame you have people interpret that as confirmation that you've made it.They want favours from you and everything else for free yet they fail to realise your struggle and hardship.It's a damn shame!

8.Too many Times

Too many times we've cried about not making it.Too many times we've cried about the sad things we see happen in society.What's right is wrong and whats wrong is right.Yet through all of this I'm just trying  to live a simple life.I also dedicate the 3rd verse of this song to my late friend Benedict aka Mr Cat,R.IP!!!!

9.The Weekend ft Leo & Rylee

On the journey to achieving your dreams,you spend quite a lot of time away from your loved ones and they just don't understand that it comes with the job.My opening verse goes:Try me now Im coming back/A couple of shows and bring a body bag/Killin em slow like where your hotty at?What I'm trying to say is I'm coming back baby I jus have a couple of shows to kill,I'll even bring a body bag just to show you I killed it by the way they asked about you at the show.

10.Hashtags

This is the 2nd single off the Ep produced by producer/rapper Lazy left.I'm really proud of this song and how it turned out.Its a sing-along at most places I've performed it at.It's a hashtag which I'd love to see trending.

11.Everything

This may be the 3rd single in the Ep.The songs' title is self explanatory.It sums up everything I've gone through during the recording process hence the title and the fact that it's the last song on the project.It also features an excerpt from one of Julius Malema's moments.

B.I reveals cover art to AutoB.I.opic and tracklisting

BMG (B-ringiton Music Group) reveals the cover art to Autobiopic, B.I's summer release scheduled to drop in November. Although the tracklisting is limited to 10 songs its proven in history that hiphop albums with the shortest compilation have stood out to be labelled classics. The title derive from 2 words: Autobiography and Biopic both words have the letters B.I in them, hence Autobiopic. The watermark of a baby's face represents how vulnerable we human beings are to the world, that no matter how long you live you never quite figure out what life is though u make worth of what u know.The back cover along with the tracklisting aligned on a background of city lights, a part of what B.I's learned from and where he's from.The 1st single out is titled Laces produced by Gangsta P which will be followed by a video and a remix of the original master.Follow B.I on twitter @Bi_blackinfant1 and Facebook: B.i. Laces is more than just a hiphop single from rapper B.I. It represents a movement and progressing in a positve direction. Think of your laces as your form of transportation to a newly improved you, literally and figuratively. Biography

Born  in 1985  July the 14th , Tebogo Phofa better known by the Alias B.I grew up in Soweto . He says: ‘ from a young age I always loved music, in the hood we grew up listening to kwaito, hip-hop only reached out to me when I turned 15.  The 1st Hip-hop album I bought was Nas’ it was written, which dropped  in ’96. Nas  would tell stories in a way I found inspirational. 

As I hit high school my peers and I would form these circles during break called ciphers…lol  ask the teachers  we use to be troublesome  with those.  Similar to a baby learning to move by crawling 1st, I  started writing my 1st verse while listening to Nas. I developed a writing style and  unlike others , made  me unique and is a big part of how I sound now although through mastering my art I've developed my own sound and style. 

Not getting into too much of the nitty grittys , B.I has done a lot in his career including hit singles  on radio staions  such as yfm and metro fm. In 2010 he was interviewed live on Dj Euphonic’s My House show alongside my producer and engineer Matthew Garton  who ran a production label called Rythmicfizz. Matthew saw talent in B.I and the two escalated to a great musical chemistry.  Later in 2010 He released his single titled The good, bad and the ugly featuring Tswyza who is now known for his  hit single titled Booty .He  says: Man the hustle got me far, this industry wasn’t built for the faint-hearted. In late 2010 I had the honour of meeting Dj lemonka who’s well known for the Motswakotape  and famously the man behind launching Notshi’s career. Lemonka invited B.I  to perform at his hip-hop session held in the Northwest a place called tlebebe. I had the honour of performing with greats like Mo molemi and Hhp, little did he know hype magazine was present and witnessed B perfoming  they featured  him in their September issue. It opened a lot of doors and I was approached by Dineo Ranaka’s assistant producer then, who requested a jingle for their live on drive show which played every afternoon during the week between 3 pm and 6pm. Now 2014 deep in the game, B.I is currently working on a project titled AutoB.I.opic scheduled to be released late November with it’s 1st single titled Laces.

G-LISTEN debuts their new single in 2014

Hiphop in SA has been in no doubt impressive in the past 2 years, numerous acts up and coming have proven & lived up to the standards of what makes hiphop in S.A what it is today.
The freshest duo in the game has arrived, consisting of 2 artists who have impressive credentials as solo acts. B.I & Stringz, a duo who go by the name G-listen have been in studio cooking up hits to make the game run down n stay shook. Their 1st single titled 'Time piece' produced by Makaihbeats hits the airwaves in 2014 and is expected to be a hit for years to come. They say: Basically the concept of the song 'time piece' tells a story of anyone with dreams to achieve, when life seems slow and you're tryin to achieve certain dreams and the older you get you kind of feel like time is running out it's in pieces. You try to gather all those pieces together just to buy enough time to achieve what you desire in time...The concept is ambiguous as we piece time but also include a word play listing all the popular time pieces common in hiphop e.g Jacob, Rolex, Audemar etc.
